Join us for Spinzilla 2017!

Our Team is now Full!

Team Woven Art is looking for spinners to join us for Spinzilla 2017.  Spinzilla is a global event where teams and individuals compete to see who can spin the most yarn in a week. Spinzilla is held during Spinning & Weaving week - the first full week of October. Spindle spinners and novice spinners are most welcome to join!

Registration begins September 1 and goes through September 30th. It costs $15 per team member to join, and all proceeds from Spinzilla go to the The National NeedleArts Association Foundation - to support the future generation of needlearts enthusiasts!

Spinzilla is a world-wide spinning event where competing teams and individuals challenge each other to see who can spin the most yarn in a week! Although the competition lasts only a week, many teams and individuals are already training, preparing their fiber and monstering up their spinning skills. The winning team is awarded a year's worth of bragging rights, the traveling Golden Niddy Noddy, and $25 gift certificates for all team members!  Spinzilla also offers individuals a way to participate in the Rogue Spinners category.

Stay tuned for an information session and some fun workshops!

Boomerang Bags Sewing Bee

You may have noticed that Woven Art now has Boomerang Bags as an option for how you get your purchases from the shop to your home. If you are interested in learning more about the Boomerang Bags Project in the Greater Lansing Area, we are holding a mini sewing bee and information session at the shop. We will construct some bags from start to finish and answer any questions that you might have about the project. You don't have to be able to sew to help! We will be cutting, pinning, snipping and ironing, too. If you have a sewing machine, bring it and help with the construction of the bags. If you own and can operate a serger, bring it!

We exceeded our goal of 50 bags (we donated 64) for Allen Farmers Market in Lansing. Now we are ready to get started on some bags for the East Lansing Farmers Market!

Please contact the store to sign up, as we do have space limitations: 517-203-4467
If you would like to bring a sewing machine, please bring a heavy-duty extension cord.
